Clubs

The ECSU is a hub of student activity and connected to student life at Emily Carr. We are committed to ensuring that Emily Carr is a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment, and expect the highest standards in all the community building initiatives we are involved in.

Anime Club

We are the official Anime and Manga club at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, a small club that investigates the artistic process behind producing anime/manga. We also screen anime and hold fun (sometimes unhinged) otaku events! Our mission: Create a safe space by artists, for artists to share their passion!

Mahjong

Mahjong Club is an all-inclusive, beginner friendly club for those who are interested in learning or playing Taiwanese mahjong! Mahjong is a fairly simple game and Jenny has put together a mahjong sheet where most of the rules are explained in one go. Jenny (who learned Taiwanese Mahjong from their Taiwanese father) leads the club every week, on alternating days based on everyone's availability.

Outdoor Club

A student-led outdoor club at Emily Carr University that creates space for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals to connect with nature through group hikes, camping trips, and creative explorations. Centered on inclusivity accessibility, and empowerment, the club challenges traditional outdoor culture by prioritizing safety, representation, and joy in the wilderness.

ECU Bouldering Club is open to all Emily Carr Students of all years and programs. The club meets once a week, and we go to the Hive Vancouver Bouldering gym. We meet on campus and walk over as a group to the bouldering gym, which is very close to campus. The club accepts all levels, from beginner to super experienced. Bouldering does not require any prior knowledge and is a fun way to meet new people. Great for those who enjoy breaking a sweat or for those who prefer to sit and watch others while chatting with new friends.

ETCETERA!!

We're a radical crew of creative queers looking for like-minded creatures who want to make conversation-starting, controversial, or otherwise kickass expressive art, design, photography and more: Identity, body positivity, kink, mature education, disability, intimacy, queer love, self love, consent, sensuality, and self representation from people and bodies
that don't get to be seen on white walls.

Open hatred and prejudice towards queer self expression is on the rise at ECUAD, and together we stand against it.

Together we’ll collaborate, share and promote each other's work, publish zines, and raise each other up for our first ever group exhibition.

Muslim Student Association

ECUMSA (Emily Carr University Muslim Student Association) strives to create a community for the young Muslims studying at Emily Carr to come together and have a safe space to serve Allah (SWT). Creating this association at Emily Carr will promote diversity, inclusivity, and the well-being of all students. It will serve not only for the needs of Muslim students but also contribute to the overall education and cultural richness of the university environment.
