The MOEC (Michael O’Brian Exhibition Commons), the RBC Media Gallery and Zone 4 (FKA the Faculty Gallery) are available for student exhibitions.

Group shows are defined as three or more participants, and proposals from individual students will not be reviewed.

Proposals should be submitted in a digital .pdf file. Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the Student Exhibitions Committee. Please provide as much detail as possible in support of your proposal.

Proposals Need to Include the Following Information in the Following Order

a) Application Information:

 i. Title of proposed exhibition

ii. Name of curator or key organizers responsible for the exhibition, majors + year of study at Emily Carr

iii. Contact number + email for the above

b) Detailed curatorial statement outlining the thematic concept of proposed exhibition

c) Names of participants + disciplines with an articulation of how their work addresses the exhibition concept

d) Images of the artworks which you would like to include in the exhibition

Please note:

  • The selection process is competitive and the committee will review the proposals based on an assessment of artistic merit, community impact and feasibility. Works in progress are difficult for the committee to assess and therefore, finalized work is most often prioritized.

  • Curators will be responsible for working with their team of participants to install the show and return the space to its original state by the de-install deadline. There is some assistance available through the technical staff at the Libby Leshgold by contacting Kevin Romaniuk at kromaniuk@ecuad.ca. The Student Exhibitions Committee is not responsible for show installation

  • The committee will determine what spaces to place each show. Curators may identify preferred locations, but these cannot always be supported.

Proposals can be uploaded to the following Dropbox link. Please note, this submission will not provide you with a confirmation email. You may contact info@ecsu.ca if you would like confirmation that we have received your proposal.

Resources Available for Proposal Development:

If the committee receives enough proposals to fill exhibition spaces for January, these will be programmed for January 8th-19th.

If not, there will be another call for proposals circulated this semester.

There will also be another call circulated in the Spring semester for an exhibition from March 4th-15th.
