Health and Dental Eligibility Referendum

We are happy to announce that members of our community voted to approve the Health and Dental Eligibility Referendum and the following question was approved:

“Are you in favour of expanding eligibility criteria for mandatory* inclusion in the Extended Health and Dental Plan from 9 credits per semester to 6 credits per semester beginning September 1, 2021?

*Note that members with equivalent coverage will be eligible to opt-out of the plan with proof of coverage”

263 members voted, with a 97% approval.

Students registering for classes for the Fall semester will now be automatically included in the ECSU Extended Health and Dental benefits plan if they are taking 6 credits or more.

The Extended Health and Dental plan will provide coverage in addition to theBC Medical Services Plan (MSP) from September 1st 2021 to August 31st 2022 and the fee is only assessed in the Fall semester.

Please monitor your email and our website as we will be circulating important health and dental information like opting out, health plan details, information for students out of Canada, and more.

Thank you for voting and for your continuous support.
